- Social Media Intern (Xiao Mei)
“ImmerQi gave me a great placement that suited my major–Digital Media Management and Programming. Being a social media intern at a magazine, I really got a chance to see the work I could be doing with my degree after graduating from university. It was a great experience that not only immersed me in the culture of China, but specifically the work culture. It was interesting to see how work culture differed in China, compared to the United States and it definitely is useful experience for the future–if I decide to work abroad. Also, the ImmerQi team was always helpful and friendly.“
- Business and Consulting Intern (Sharfy)
“As soon as I made my decision to come to China, I had become increasingly anxious about the 6 months I would spend there. My colleagues asked me questions like where I would stay, what I would do, how would I be able to communicate with my limited knowledge of Mandarin. Unable to answer all those questions, I started to worry a bit myself. I decided it would be best to play it by the ear and see where it would take me. Luckily, I didn’t have to worry for too long. The program provider I decided to make this journey with, Immerqi, realized my anxiousness and guided me step by step till my arrival to Beijing.”
- Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Intern (Dina)
“When I first decided to intern in China, I was nervous and had no idea that I’d have such a culture-rich, amazing experience. I did not speak Chinese so I thought the language barrier would prevent me from having a good trip abroad. However, ImmerQi provided me with Mandarin lessons and an amazing internship site, so all my worries soon disappeared. I interned at a hospital and was able to learn many transferable skills for the future. Between traveling and exploring historical sites on the weekend and interning during the week, my six weeks in China flew by! I would highly recommend this opportunity to anyone considering it. It was such a memorable experience!”
“Now that I am currently working for a Chinese start-up company in a shared office space, the majority of other peers are only able to speak mandarin! So now, it’s the opposite of the former “percentages” here. My boss and I would often use mandarin, and I also recently had a progress review on my research almost entirely based in mandarin Chinese! As what I’ve learned from my internship experience was that we would learn best simply by doing. Making an effort to utilize mandarin in your everyday life, and within each function and form, your mandarin will improve considerably quicker than as if you only studied Chinese words and grammar structure in a classroom setting.”
- Hospitality Intern (Gloria)
“I am grateful that I was able to find this internship through ImmerQi because it has developed me as a person overall. I was able to gain valuable experience and also meet people from all over the world. In doing my internship with Radisson Blu Hotel, I was able to develop the skills that I already had and identify the new skills that I picked up during my time here. One of the best memories of mine was when my best friend came to Beijing to visit as my late birthday present. It was truly amazing that I got to take my best friend around Beijing and introduce her to the other interns here. I took her to the Mutianyu Great Wall and that day, the weather was simply impeccable. We were both fascinated by the fact that the Great Wall has a history of over 2,300 years and that we were standing on one of the greatest wonders in the world. The Great Wall carries a considerable part of the Chinese culture and I was honored that I could see such a beautiful thing with my closest friend.”
- Graphic Design Intern (Sabrina)
“I have been looking for a great opportunity in many countries and I thought it would be a great experience to mix my European background and personality with Asian culture and that is why I have been in touch with many agencies which provide internships in China. After different interviews with different agencies, I decided to sign up for ImmerQi which looked like an agency that can help me to fulfill my needs and it was the best choice I have made! When I arrived in China, I soon felt the strong difference such as cultural impact, this huge city with so many people speaking a different language to me, I often got lost without the possibility of asking any information as it is not that easy find someone who can speak English around here. However, thanks to ImmerQi staff and interns, I quickly felt like home and before the first week ended I was already in love with Beijing.”
